About the Speaker

Amy S.F. Lutz’s writing on severe autism has appeared on many platforms, including The Atlantic, Slate, and Psychology Today. Her first book, Each Day I Like It Better: Autism, ECT, and the Treatment of Our Most Impaired Children, was published in 2014 by Vanderbilt University Press, and her second book, We Walk: Life with Severe Autism, will be published in October by Cornell University Press. She is currently completing a doctorate in the history of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and lives outside Philadelphia with her husband and five children. Her oldest son, Jonah, 21, is severely autistic.
